چکیده

Received Jan 26, 2017 Revised Apr 1, 2017 Accepted Apr 26, 2017 This paper proposes an improved optimisation of sequencing batch reactors (SBR) for aerobic granular sludge (AGS) at high temperature-low humidity for domestic wastewater treatment using response surface methodology (RSM). The main advantages of RSM are less number of experiment required and suitable for complex process. The sludge from a conventional activated sludge wastewater treatment plant and three sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) were fed with synthetic wastewater. The experiment were carried out at different high temperatures (30, 40 and 50°C) and the formation of AGS for simultaneous organics and nutrients removal were examined in 60 days. RSM is used to model and to optimize the biological parameters for chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total phosphorus removal in SBR system. The simulation results showed that at temperature of 45.33°C give the optimum condition for the total removal of COD and phosphorus, which correspond to performance index R of 0.955 and 0.91, respectively. Optimisation of wire-cut EDM process parameter by Grey-based response surface methodology

Wire electric discharge machining (WEDM) is one of the advanced machining processes. Response surface methodology coupled with Grey relation analysis method has been proposed and used to optimise the machining parameters of WEDM. A face centred cubic design is used for conducting experiments on high speed steel (HSS) M2 grade workpiece material. The regression model of significant factors such ...

Process Performance of a Granular Single Bioreactor with Continuous Feeding and Intermittent Discharge Regime Treating Dairy Wastewater

In this study, granulated sludge synthesized in a sequence batch reactor (SBR) and then granulated sludge was transferred to continuous feeding and intermittent discharge (CFID) bioreactor. Two independent variables (air flow rate and hydraulic retention time (HRT)) were considered to optimize the process. Subsequently, long term performance (150 days) of the bioreactor was assessed by monitori...

Phosphorus Removal from Dairy Wastewater in Batch Systems under Simultaneous Aerobic/Anaerobic Conditions: Application of Response Surface Methodology

The objective of this paper is simultaneous of aerobic and anaerobic process for phosphorus removal from a dairy wastewater. The system consists of a granular sequencing batch reactor (SBR) working under alternating aerobic/anaerobic conditions. In order to analyze the process, four significant variables viz. MLSS, COD/N ratio, aeration time and cycling time and four dependent parameters as the...

Application of Response Surface Methodology and Artificial Neural Network for Analysis of p-chlorophenol Biosorption by Dried Activated Sludge

Phenolic compounds are considered as priority pollutants because of their high toxicity at low concentration. In the present study, the sorption of p-chlorophenol (p-CP) by dried activated sludge was investigated. Activated sludge was collected as slurry from the sludge return line of a municipal wastewater treatment plant. Sorption experiments were carried out in batch mode. In order to invest...

Dynamic Modelling of Aerobic Granular Sludge Artificial Neural Networks

Received Feb 13, 2017 Revised Apr 18, 2017 Accepted May 2, 2017 Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) technology is a promising development in the field of aerobic wastewater treatment system. Aerobic granulation usually happened in sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) system. Most available models for the system are structurally complex with the nonlinearity and uncertainty of the system makes it hard to ...
